Musicians Resources for Bible Study

Although music is extremely important it is not the most important spiritual need of a believer!
It can not be denied that gospel music holds a vitally important and inspirational role in the Church and the life of believers. Truly, we can never get enough. Musicians are eternally motivated to crave music. Yet, the inspiration of music in and of itself does not complete all the spiritual needs of musicians. Only the power of God's Word heard, studied and applied, along with prayer can maintain a musician's ideal communion and fellowship with God.

Too often, musicians seek to satisfy their colossal musical appetites at the expense of leaving Bible study as just another option, left over time, or momentary spiritual treat. Unfortunately, the modern-day Church does not experience the full impact and fruit of what God does through born-again, Holy Ghost-filled, Bible literate musicians. It is common for musicians in the Church to operate more as scheduled employees than an additional group of spiritually gifted people bonded in fellowship and sharing all the dimensions of the Church Body. Customarily and habitually, musicians attend Church services without bringing a Bible, or they may bring a Bible but often left unread during the ministry of God's Word.

It is a public contradiction of the music ministry to sing about a God that you have not communed with. Talking to other people about how great and wonderful your wife isn't a substitute for time you should spend telling her how adorable she is. In like manner, there's too much talk about God rather than talk to God. Ironically, it is typical for ministers to talk more about God than talk to God. For these reasons, musicians in the Church need to develop and establish a daily discipline of prayer and studying the Word of God.
Humbly, I Pastor D., charge and challenge you to resubmit and commit yourself to the daily study of God's Word and prayer.
