My Advice to Other Students
Dedication, Dedication! Don’t let yourself become discouraged. We both know learning can be frustrating sometimes, but we must embrace those things that challenge us in order to achieve out goals. Do
your homework, and practice correctly. This is one of my own personal struggles. You can practice for hours and not progress if you approach your practicing with the wrong approach or attitude. Read Pastor D's tip on studying and practicing, and follows them exactly. Its challenging, but very rewarding. Do your homework!!!!
What is it like taking musical training from Pastor D?Very rewarding. If you want to learn how to play a song, you can take lessons from anybody. If your want to know how to play any song, in any key, in any style, with any group of musicians, then it is critical to understand the theory behind the music. This is what separates Pastor D from other instructors. He understands the theory, and better yet, he understands how to relay this information to his students.
What has my greatest struggle been in becoming a skilled musician?Time Management and using correct practicing techniques
Pastor D press me the most about!
* Improper Practice, which shows up as:
* Inability to play a song with looking at the music
* Not playing with the count
* Struggling with cord fingerings
* Coming to lessons unprepared, thus much of the lesson is spent practicing (which should actually be done at home).
